The Apex role

A bridge into long-term strength and performance.

Completing rehabilitation does not always mean someone feels ready for the demands of sport, work or independent training. Apex helps build the next layer of capacity.

After physical therapy

Continue building strength and confidence following appropriate discharge or clearance.

After surgery

Progress training while respecting the individual’s history, current capacity and medical guidance.

With physical limitations

Modify exercise choice, setup, volume and progression instead of forcing a fixed template.

Keep building

Work with the full picture.

After appropriate clearance, training can protect momentum while respecting the recovering area and medical guidance.

Adapt with purpose

A limitation does not erase the athlete.

Training decisions change, but coaching, progression and the athlete’s larger goals still matter.

How decisions change

More context. Better questions.

A limitation in one area does not always tell the full story. We assess movement, understand relevant history and decide what level of coaching is appropriate.

01. Understand

Discuss the history, current symptoms or restrictions, previous rehabilitation and desired activity.

02. Coordinate

Use relevant guidance from a doctor or physical therapist when permission and context support it.

03. Adapt

Change exercise selection, progression and monitoring based on how the individual responds.

Clear boundaries

Training—not medical treatment.

Apex does not diagnose injuries, provide rehabilitation, replace physical therapy or guarantee the prevention of pain or injury.

APEX CAN

Coach after clearance

Provide progressive strength and performance training, account for known limitations and incorporate relevant clinician guidance.

APEX WILL

Refer when appropriate

Pause and direct a client back to a healthcare professional when the situation falls outside the appropriate scope of training.

Common questions

What clients ask.

Because these starting points vary widely, the assessment determines fit, format and the right first step.

Do I need medical clearance?

Clearance may be appropriate after surgery, rehabilitation or when medical concerns affect training. We will discuss what is needed before beginning.

Can you speak with my PT or doctor?

With your permission and when the context supports it, Apex can use relevant guidance from your healthcare professional to inform training decisions.

What if symptoms change?

Training is adjusted based on response. When a change requires medical evaluation, we refer you back to the appropriate healthcare professional.

Strength through recovery
“Even when she had to recover from meniscus surgery, he developed a plan and worked on every other part of her to keep the rest of her strong. Matt went above and beyond to work with her physical therapist and surgeon to stay within their guidelines.”
